Manhattan, a town in Gallatin County, is in the southern region of the state of Montana. It has a population of about 1400 people and is about .6 square miles in area. One of Manhattan’s most notable residents is William Frankena, a professor and moral philosopher. The town gained fame in the mid-1990s when it was featured on the national advertising campaign for the Beef Industry called ‘Real Food for Real People.’ One of the major attractions in Manhattan are the nearby Horseshoe Hills to the north and the Bridger Range to the east. To the south lies the Spanish Peaks Wilderness, which is a wonderful area to hike and fish. One of the best activities to do there is trout fish as the area has been awarded the blue ribbon for the quality of fish that live there. Another attraction in the area is the Manhattan Area Museum, which is dedicated to the history of the railroad. Also, just a short drive away is Yellowstone National Park and the Lewis and Clark Caverns. Two of the businesses that are located in Manhattan are Aspen Valley Painting & Drywall and Backyard Storage and UHaul.
