About Sheridan

Sheridan is a city located in Madison County, Montana. The city was named after Philip Sheridan, a general in the Civil War. The city is often referred to as the "heart of the Ruby Valley" and is surrounded by seven mountain ranges including the Ruby Range, The Pioneers, The Gravellies, Snowcrest Range, the Highland Mountains, McCartney Mountain and the Tobacco Root Range. Some of the oldest rocks found in the area are over 2.7 billion years old. There are numerous annual festivals held in Sheridan some of them are the Sheridan Summer Festival, the Madison County Fair and Rodeo, the Christmas Stroll and the Sheridan Wine Festival. There are also several places for outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and hiking. The city's Sheridan School serves all students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade.
