About Bayville

Bayville is a section of Berkeley Township in Ocean County, in the Shore Region of New Jersey and includes a large section of the NJ Pine Barrens. Known for its Bay Coast, it also includes a section of the Island Beach barrier island including South Seaside Park & Island Beach State Park. Other parks in Bayville include Berkeley Island (County), Double Trouble (State), Mill Creek Island (County), Dudley Park on Cedar Creek (Township) and Veterans Park (Township) which includes the beautiful public Cedar Creek Golf Course. A popular new addition is the county sponsored Railroad trail for walking, jogging & biking that extends from the old tressel (with a branch to Dudley Park) in the south up to Beachwood in the north. Bayville also has some excellent sports parks for youth organizations including the eastern Soccer Complex, Roller Hockey at Dudley Park, Berkeley Pop Warner at Veterans Park and the Moorage Baseball Complex of Berkeley Little League, which features Leiter Field and the new Volunteer Community Center indoor practice facility.

During the summer months the township hosts free outdoor concerts every other Tuesday at Veterans Park. Community Pride Day, traditionally held on the second Saturday in September, closes out the summer season.

Besides the great parks in Bayville, the waterfront is dotted with excellent marinas and beaches. Another favorite recreation spot is Blackbeard's Cave on Route 9, featuring miniature golf, go karts, batting cages and other fun attractions.

Route 9 is the business corridor and is known for two famous land marks, a giant wine bottle statue at Korman's Corner and the well known Dinosaur a little further south. These statues have been used to promote various local businesses over the years.

You can learn about all of Bayvilles history by visiting the Berkeley Historical Society on Route 9, next to the Recreation Center. They have some outstanding old photos and documents showing the many changes in Bayville over the years

Famous persons from Bayville include Megan McCafferty (1973) (author) and Don Hauptman, (author), Al & Mark Leiter, professional baseball players.
