About Belen

The city of Belen, whose name derives from Spanish for "Bethlehem," is located on the Rio Grande in Valencia County, New Mexico, in the Albuquerque metro area. Major attractions include the Belen State Waterfowl Area and the Harvey House Museum. One of the best places to visit when you are in Belen is the historic route, El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail which extends from El Paso, Texas, to San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico and where you can learn about the heritage and culture in the Southwest.
