About Deming

The city of Deming, named after Mary Deming, the wife of a railroad investor, is located at the northern end of the Chihuahua Desert, which stretches deep into Mexico, in Luna County, New Mexico. A major attraction is the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum. Each year in September, the Southwestern New Mexico State Fair is held here and in August, the The Great American Duck Race. Deming is located close to a wide range of recreational opportunities in Rockhound State Park, City of Rocks State Park, Spring Canyon Park and Butterfield Trail. A notable resident of Deming has included musician and songwriter, Max Crook.
