The city of Lovington is a ranching community located on the Texas border in Lea County, New Mexico, in the Hobbs metro area and was named for brothers and settlers, Robert Florence Love and James B. Love. A major attraction here is the Lea County Museum, which preserves the history of Native Americans, ranchers, farmers and homesteaders through exhibits such as a blacksmith shop, a tack room and a farm equipment shed. Each year in August, the Lea County Fair and Rodeo is held here. Some of the businesses in Lovington are Paper & Party Emporium and La Tortilla Express. Lovington Christian Academy is located here. One of the best places to visit when you are in Lovington is the nearby Harry McAdams State Park, located about 20 minutes away. A well-known resident of Lovington has included football player, Brian Urlacher.
