Nara Visa is a small semi ghost town in far eastern Quay County, New Mexico known for its quintessential New Mexican origins and history. Nara Visa got it name from the mispronunciation of a local Spanish sheepherder's surname by the the local Anglos. Major attractions include the wonderful antique cars still sitting around the area in preserved condition due to the dry climate. Each year in the area is the Quay County Fair. Among the biggest companies in Nara Visa are Cross F Ranch, and Amistad Land & Cattle. Famous persons from Nara Visa include the McFarland brothers who started the town in 1901 in anticipation of the railroad.
