About San Jon

San Jon, New Mexico is a village in Quay County, New Mexico. The village was founded in 1902. In 1904, with the arrival of the railroad coming to town the population grew. It was once a big part of commercial stops. When Route 66 was replaced with Interstate 40, the town dried up and most businesses left. There are some businesses still open along Route 66 for the travelers who still go that way. Businesses today include Pinky's Towing and Dhillon Fuel LLC.
