About Whites City

Whites City is in Eddy County, near the Guadalupe Mountain range in New Mexico. Major employers include Mosaic Global Operations and Intrepid Potash- New Mexico. The main attraction near Whites City is Carlsbad Caverns National Park, a spectacular subterranean network of more than 100 limestone caves. Above the underground tunnels, the flora and fauna of the Chihuahuan Desert (an area located mainly in Mexico) attract birdwatchers and hikers. Underground, park rangers offer a variety of tours. Both cave swallows and bats make their homes in the cave ceilings. The bats become unusual morning meal companions during the annual Bat Flight Breakfast, beginning on a July morning at 5 am. The breakfast has been offered for the past 50 years. Back in Whites City, visitors can shop at the Apache Canyon Trading Post and stay at the Best Western Cavern.
