About East Meadow

East Meadow is located on Long Island approximately 30 miles east of New York City. Part of Nassau County, East Meadow is known for its child safety program Safety Town which is operated by the police Department of Nassau County. Safety Town, located in Eisenhower Park, is an actual miniature town where children learn about traffic and personnel safety. A historical area settled in the mid 1600s, it is said that George Washington stayed a night at the Barnum farm in 1790. Local businesses include Shredded Rx and Elite PC Solutions. Among the biggest companies in East Meadow are Nassau University Medical Center and The Carlton Hotel. Scenes from several popular movies including Married to the Mob, Let the Good Times Roll and Pieces of April have been shot in various areas of East Meadow. The biggest schools here are East Meadow High School and W. Tresper Clarke High School. Two of the best places to visit when you are in East Meadow are Majors Steak House and Eisenhower Park. Famous persons from East Meadow include basketball player, Julius Erving, and the actor William Fichtner.
