Just found this site and wanted to share a story- Edd Monaco (himself) has come to my parents home in Seaford after every snowstorm to make sure my parents driveway & walks were clear. He changed some windows, did a 1/2 bath in the master bedroom and has adopted my elderly parents. There is no doubt he is a great contractor but being a trusted neighbor is equally important. Aside from a few "handyman" services, we haven't used him for over 3 years yet he still comes by to check on the old folks ( yes!! He does the small stuff too!) Am glad to see other people have had the same experience with him- He REALLY is a different kind of contractor; kind of old school, grandfather-type personality, knowledgeable and humble. We love him!... more
We live on Brooklyn avenue in Seaford and have always seen his trucks around town and especially on the block. t turns out he has worked on most every house on the block ( 22 of 28!) and has been doing so for 40 years. We used him on a simple basement finish and windows/sidings- great work, always on time and very knowledgeable. Even the Town Inspectors know his work is excellent ( they told us!) and the Architect who prepared our blueprints had used him on HIS kitchen and bath! Small world!!! Says he's going to retire in another 8 years but we don't think so- So just in case he does, better have him do your project soon ( he still works everyday as the lead carpenter on the job-can you believe it?) Hope to have him do our 2nd floor addition next year- maybe a deck this year ( I hope!) Tell him Zanny Zan recommended him- maybe you'll get a discount!!... more
It's been almost 3 years since Edd remodeled our home and the house looks as good as when he finished. After spending $150k, it's exactly how you want to feel years later! During that time, we have read about/heard about endless Contractor Horror stories. With us ( and every referral) he treated us fairly, did excellent work and was on-the-job 6 days/week. Our neighbors used Ambassador and they could never find the owner ( until a check was due!) and we threw the Allure salesman out after 15 minutes- His prices are right in the middle ( we got 5 "real" estimates and he was # 3) but the most important thing is he only does one job at a time! He is as concerned with progress and perfection as we homeowners are and lastly-- We called him on Sat. nights, Sunday mornings and holidays; he ALWAYS answered the phone or got back to us in hours. Try that with your big-shot Contractors!!! Use him and you won't be sorry!!!... more
