About Medina

Medina is a village in Orleans County, New York , which straddles two other towns -Shelby and Ridgeway, and in which the Eerie Canal passes through. The first ethanol plant in the Northeastern United States is in Medina. Medina is known for it's stone used to mke many "Brownhouses", Medina Historical Society, established in 1971, keeps events planned for the historic community. Medina is in Ripley's Believe it or Not for two different things. First, the St. John's Episcopal Church, which is the "Church in the Middle of the Road" and then for theCulvert, which is the only place in which a road passes under the Erie Canal! A nice place to visit while in Medina is the Medina Railroad Museum, one of the largest railroad and toy train museums in NY.
