About Monroe
The town of Monroe is located in Orange County, New York, in the Poughkeepsie-Newburgh metro area and was named after President James Monroe. It is known as the birthplace of Velveeta cheese and as the home of Claudius Smith, who during Revolutionary times supplied the British with goods stolen from settlers. A Major attraction is Museum Village, where you can experience life in the 19th century. Each year in September, the Monroe Cheese Festival is held. One of the best places to visit when you are in Monroe is Goosepond Mountain State Park, where you can go hiking and horseback riding.

You should be looking to book a New Year's Eve party by mid-October. This will give you time to decide on the food preparations and also to add or delete the number of guests you are planning to "party" with. the lead tiime will relieve of the "stress" for as always, the "last minute preparations.
I've done it before for at least 20 years. It really works.
