We have been seasonals at Long Lake Park since early 2009. Doug and Jamie have done incredible job with the campground. We have no issues with the facility or the people. Everyone is very friendly and the campground is very quiet and restful. I suspect those who have had issues with the owners were not adhering to the rules, which has not been an issue for my family at all.... more
This is our third year and we have had nothing but good things happen to us at the campground. Jamie has been wonderful, Doug has been a fine business man. I have nothing but respect for anyone wanting to clean up the campground. The workers have put in many hours cleaning up and building this wonderful vacation spot. The children of the campers have been a joy,and reflect well about their parents. This is the place to set up and enjoy .KEN... more
The main dock had ropes removed a year ago and is now unsafe to walk on. New docks were installed for seasonals but are extremely unstable and have nowhere to grasp on to for stability. A railing would be appreciated, however better docks would be ideal. Young children are often seen driving golf carts around the park, very unsafe and a violation of the rules. Owner Doug seems to have only one interest, to make a quick buck. Jumps from one project to the next without following through with previous plans. Promises of a new shower house, swimming pool, sewer lines, clean lake, all seemed to die off quickly when he started building his new, overpriced cabins. Doug's wife Jamie however seems to be much more friendly and helpful. Overall, Long Lake has better amenities than many other campgrounds, yet the enforcement of rules, follow through of projects, and friendliness of some staff leaves room for improvement.... more
I have mixed reviews on Long Lake Park. While there is great merit to the vast improvements and updates made by the new owners, many comments regarding the treatment of seasonals is accurate. The in-ground pool is fabulous but there is no life guard or enforcement of rules; it is also severely over-crowded on weekends since the banning of swimming in the lake. Suggestions would be for a break period like city pools where the last 10 minutes of every hour is adults-only and perhaps the eventual construction of another pool. More chairs and space to lay out is also needed. Bathrooms do get closed for cleaning at their peak usage time... but at least they are cleaned daily! Port-o-pots are also kept very clean, but not all have been placed on stable flat surfaces. Wish more signs would be posted not to smoke in restrooms as they smell like cigarettes frequently. Lake is full of weeds, which makes fishing, boating, kayaking, and canoeing difficult and less enjoyable.... more
yes, as above, doug treats newbies and weekends like gold. But sign on that dotted line as a seasonal and the honeymoon is over after your first year. For a man that wants "only seasonals and no weekenders", he treats his seasonals like garbage. Rules apply only to some and he is totally inconsistent with what he does tell you. When we put up a shed, it had to be 10' from the edge of lot. Then our neighbors put up a shed. Whenever they opened the door, it hit our camper - obviously less than 10' from our lot edge. But that was ok with doug. We moved to a new site 1 month before the season end and had doug clearly tell us the borders of the lot. When we returned in the spring, he put in an access road taking about 15' of our site. We understand, but a phone call letting us know he made our lot smaller would have been considerate. New people moved on the other side of us, he gave them 10+ feet of the other side of our lot, taking away our parking. Find a different place.... more
