Minford is an unincorporated community located on the border of Harrison and Madison Townships in Scioto County, Ohio. The community was originally formed in 1859, and was called Harrisonville. Its name was changed to Minford in 1917 due to the construction of the C&O Railroad. There was another town along the railroad already named Harrisonville, and it was too confusing. A major attraction near Minford is Shawnee State Park and Forest. The park is nicknamed the "Little Smokies". The Little Scioto River is also a popular outdoor venue, and runs adjacent to Minford. The biggest schools here are Minford Middle School and Minford High School. PGA golfer Bob Sowards is from Minford.
