What Tools are Needed to Remove Car Seats?

What tools are needed to remove the front seats of a vehicle to replace the carpeting? Can most back seats in a vehicle be removed also?

Motorheads Performance image Answered by Motorheads Performance

Most people take their car's interior for granted, and really don't know how it is all put together. You didn't mention the type of vehicle you have, but taking out the front seats usually consists of pulling back a bit of the carpet, although some are bolted on top of the carpet. You'll need a flashlight to look at the frame under the seat to determine where the bolts are. There are usually four large bolts holding the seat down. With the correct size socket wrench you can then easily unbolt it. Depending on the vehicle, you will sometimes have a seatbelt attached to one of the bolts as well, but this will easily slide off then you remove the seat. Rear seats are another matter. Some makes and models have a raised platform on which the rear seat is attached. Others are attached to frames which are bolted onto the floor. In either case you should be able to remove the seat. On modern SUV's, rear seats are frequently slid into a locking mechanism which allows for quick and easy removal of the seat. All seats are made to be removed, it's just a matter of finding out how they attach and removing the bolts used to secure them. You can then lay down your new carpeting and reverse the process to install the seats after you've allowed the carpeting to relax.

Ever Sweet Baby Boutique image Answered by Ever Sweet Baby Boutique
Diaper bags are a must for new moms! I would also recommend having baby bedding, a stockpile of burp cloths and bibs, onesies, baby slings, and car seat covers because they will keep your infant's car seat safe from spills and spit ups. Also, make sure to stock your fridge full of caffeinated beverages :) www.eversweetbabyboutique.com
