Woodward is the country seat of Woodward Country in Oklahoma. Woodward is known for its Southern charm and serves as one of the state's most productive agricultural hotspots. Major attractions include the Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum and Washita Battlefield, which is a National Historic Site. Each year in the summer season there is the Windy `00 bicycle race which brings in riders from all around the country. The hospitality of Woodward's residents as well as its ranking as one of the best small communities in the nation endear Woodward to the 1,500 businesses that have set up shop here. The biggest schools here are the Woodward High School and the High Plains Technology Center. One of the best places to visit when you are in Woodward is Indian Creek Village Winery for an enjoyable afternoon of wine tasting. Famous persons from Woodward include novelist D.Mikels and football player Bob Fenimore.
