About Albany

Albany is the county seat of Linn County (though a part of the city lies across the Willamette River in Benton County) in the Willamette Valley region of Oregon. Both the Calapooia and Willamette rivers run through the city. Calling itself "the rare metals capital of the world," Albany produces zirconium, hafnium, and titanium. It is also a major exporter of grass seeds. One of the largest companies in Albany are the Albany Research Center. Albany annually holds the Northwest Art and Air Festival, Veteran's Day Parade, Willamette River Festival, and the Albany Timber Carnival. Major attractions include the Thomas and Walter Monteith House, Albany Regional Museum, Historic Downtown Albany, and the Albany Civic Theater. The largest schools in Albany are West Albany High School and South Albany High School. Albany is also home to Linn-Benton Community College. Famous Albany Residents include actress Daveigh Chase and the Christian rock band Falling Up.
