Central Point is a part of the Jackson County region of Oregon known for its stauts as the county seat and for its relatively affluent population. When building a new home, would you recommend that customers put a basement or crawl space in the home? Why would you make this recommendation?

Most homes that have basements also have crawl spaces. However, most homes do not have basements that extend the entire footprint of the home. I have no recommendation either way, but I do have a strong recommendation for encapsulating your crawl space and dehumidifying it. If you decide to have a crawl space, do not create an open vent crawl space. When putting in a basement, you must first address the water and humidity issue. You want to put in French drains along the perimeter of the basement if you can; however, this will not address all the water problems. You need to put in a drain along the inside walls under the ground going to a sub pump. Then, install a liner on all the basement walls.
