About Corvallis

Corvallis is a part of the Albany-Corvallis-Lebanon metro area of Oregon known for being the home of Oregon State University. Major attractions include the Peavy Arboretum botanical gardens and, of course, Oregon State University. Each year the city holds the da Vinci Days festival, part of which includes a kinetic sculpture race, and the Corvallis Fall Festival, an arts festival running for almost forty years now. Among the biggest companies in Corvallis are Oregon State University and Agilent Technologies. The biggest schools here are Oregon State University which, as you can see, is a large part of the identity of the city, and Linn-Benton Community College. The name of the city comes from the Latin phrase that translates to 'heart of the valley', indicating Corvallis' location at the midway point of the Willamette Valley . Famous persons from Corvallis include Brad Bird the famous Pixar animator, and Jon Krakauer, famous author and mountaineer.
