About Cottage Grove

Cottage Grove is located in Lane County, Oregon near the city of Eugene. Cottage Grove is known as the Covered Bridge Capital of Oregon. Cottage Grove High School is the town's largest school. Larger employers here include the South Lane School District and the Cottage Grove Community Hospital. Many movies have been filmed in and around Cottage Grove include Buster Keaton's "The General," parts of "Animal House" (much of which was filmed on the campus of the nearby University of Oregon), and part of "Stand By Me." Area attractions include Row River National Recreation Trail, Dorena Lake, the Chambers Railroad Bridge (the only covered railroad bridge west of the Mississippi), Centennial Bridge and Veterans Memorial.

How can someone heat the upstairs?

If an older house does not have heating vents upstairs, what can be done to better heat the upstairs of a two story house?

If there is no possible way to run ductwork to an upper floor there are a few things that can be done. If you are only interested in heating the upstairs, cadet heaters can be installed or a portable infared radiant heater such as an iHeater can be used up to 1500 sq ft. A more practical application would be a ductless split system such as Mitsubishi or LG. These are a heat pump system that runs from the outside wall to wall mounted powerheads to different areas of the upstairs. The nice thing about these are that you will also get the much needed air conditioning one would need for a top floor since heat rises. If air conditioning is not something you are interested in, they come heat only as well.
