Milton-Freewater is located in Umatilla County, Oregon and was created when neighboring cities Milton and Freewater decided to merge. The city hosts the annual Muddy Frogwater Days festival and has been nicknamed Muddy-Frogwater by local residents. McLoughlin High School. Though the city was once a center of pea production, much of the area's larger business has moved to nearby Walla Walla, Washington in recent years and many residents commute the 8 miles to the city for work. Area attractions include the Milton-Freewater Municipal Golf Course and Yantis Park. Famous residents include baseball player Oscar Harstad.
