Graniteville is located in Aiken County, South Carolina, in the Augusta metro area and is known for the Graniteville Mill which was built in 1846 and was the first cotton mill in the South. Major attractions are the Graniteville Historic District, where you'll find that most buildings, which are listed on the National Historic Register, were constructed of blue granite, hence the town's name; and the Sage Valley Golf Course. One of the best places to visit when you are in Graniteville is nearby, 1,067-acre Aiken State Natural Area, where you can enjoy activities such as canoeing, camping, boating, fishing, hiking and picnicking.
