Conroe is a suburban city 40 miles north of Houston, TX in the gulf coastal plains/piney woods region of southeast Texas known for its popular Lake Conroe which is at the center of multiple, year round water and culture events. Almost all areas of Conroe are within the Conroe Independent School District though a small northern section of Conroe is within the Willis Independent School District. The biggest school is Conroe High School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Conroe is Lake Conroe. Famous persons from Conroe include NFL Runningback Rock Cartwright, Washington Redskins, and Kevin Slowey, is a current starting pitcher for the MLB's Minnesota Twins.
