About Marshall

Marshall is a city in Harrison County of Texas. It is known as an important educational and cultural center of East Texas. It is city of major railroads and civil rights movements. It is a center for distribution of rail freight. Major attractions include First United Methodist Church and The Ginocchio/Harrison County Historical Museum. Each season has an occasion to celebrate - Cinco de Mayo and Stagecoach Day in the Summer, the annual Fire Ant Festival in Fall, and Wonderland of Lights all year round. Among the biggest companies in Marshall are the Marshall Company, Activa Products, Inc and the Marshall News Messenger. Education is administered by the Marshall Independent School District. The biggest schools here are Marshall High School, East Texas Baptist University and Wiley College. One of the best places to visit when you are in Marshall is the Michelson Museum of Art. Famous persons from Marshall include former First Lady and environmental activist, Lady Bird Johnson and Texas Governer, Pendleton Murrah.
