About Gunnison

Gunnison is a part of the central region of Utah known for housing a large state prison and a controversial 2007 oil spill. Major attractions include pheasant hunting and other outdoor activities. Each year in the summer season the Sanpete County Fair is held nearby. Among the local businesses in Gunnison are Dreaming Velvetvee and Pheasant Run Outfitters. The biggest schools here are the Gunnison Valley Middle School and Gunnison Valley High School. Snow College is about a 35-minute drive away. One of the best places to visit when you are in Gunnison is the Super Drug and Herbal Store. Famous persons from Gunnison include Captain John W. Gunnison, a railroad surveyor.
