Lewiston is a city in Cache County, Utah. It is a part of the Logan, Utah-Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,877 at the 2000 census. The median age was 24 years and the median income for a household in the city was $36,417. Lewiston occupies a triangularly shaped land area of approximately 24 square miles. The area is almost entirely flat and contains some of the most productive agricultural land in the state. Lewiston Settlement began in 1870 and had been used as pasture land by farmers. A small business district grew around the original center of town, and a number of small retail businesses have existed there since the first store opened in 1875. Lewiston is known for its sugar factor that opened in 1904, and later was operated by the Amalgamated Sugar Company. Major attractions include The Birch Creek Golf Club and The Lewiston City Theater. The biggest schools are Utah State University and Fast Forward High School. The local businesses include Theurers Quality Meats and Dance Source . Each year Lewiston City has a weekend long July 4th celebration.
