How successful has ecotourism been in preserving fragile landscapes while also benefiting local economies and educating tourists? What are ways that ecotourism can be improved?
I would say it has been very successful. Our company sells a lot of eco tours in popular tourist destinations, and improvements are being made every day. Also, we see more and more eco tours coming online lately.
There are rumors that Wal-Mart is planning on opening a store in Moab. Are you for or against Wal-Mart opening a store in Moab?
Very difficult question. Personally, I hope that a Walmart is never built in this area. Unfortunately it may indeed be built in San Juan County. It could bring tax revenue to Moab if it were built in Grand County. It could also be the giant white elephant that San Juan would be forced to deal with once it is unable to stay in business due to the small population base. I think the impact on the local economy would be negative. SHOP LOCAL.
