About Payson

Payson is a city in Utah County, Utah. The population as of the 2000 Census was 12,716. Payson was settled by the Latter-day Saints in 1850. Every year in July the citizens of Payson celebrate with a Scottish Heritage Festival. Other annual events include an August salmon supper, and an Onion Day festival held on Labor Day. One of the biggest companies in Payson is the Utah-Idaho Sugar Company, started after the Strawberry Valley Reclamation Project was completed in 1912. The biggest schools here are Payson Junior High, and Payson High School.
