Wellington is a City in Carbon County, Utah. At the 2000 census the population was 1,666. The median age was 28 years. The median household income for the city was $36.979. The community was settled in 1878 by a band of thirteen Mormons led by Jefferson Tidwell. Many residents commute to nearby Price for their jobs, or work in one of the various coal mines in the area. Local businesses include Clear Dish and B Hansen Construction . Wellington is located in the Carbon School District and is home to Wellington elementary school. Students who attend middle school and high school attend school in Price. Carbon County during the summer each year has a County Fair and Rodeo. Centrally located in Utah’s Rural Castle County is one of Carbon County's newest venues the Carbon County Event Center.
