Martinsville is an independent city located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Henry County region of Virginia once known for its manufaturing of plug chew tobacco and today known for furniture manufacturing. Major attractions include Martinsville Speedway and Virginia Museum of Natural History. The first Friday of every month there is an Art Walk where patrons can view art and meet local artists. Hooker Furniture and American Furniture are some of the biggest companies in Martinsville. The biggest schools here are Patrick Henry Community College and New College of Virginia. One of the best places to visit when you are in Martinsville is the Fayette Street Historic District. Famous people from Martinsville include NASCAR driver Buddy Arrington.

Martinsville - like Hickory, NC is a "furniture manufacturing" town but unfortunately I am not in that business - my guess would be oak and then how well the piece is constructed.
