Staunton is the county seat of Augusta County, Virginia. It is the home of Mary Baldwin College and Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. It is also the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson and home to country music legends the Statler Brothers. With its five separate historic districts, Staunton is a popular tourist destination. It is home to the American Shakespeare Center, the only existing replica of Shakespeare's Blackfriar's Theatre, and the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library. Attractions include the Stuart-Robertson House, the Blackfriar's Theatre and Montgomery Hall Park.

Are couples required to go to counseling if they think they are headed for a divorce?

Should couples headed for a divorce do a trial separation and attend counseling both alone and together to make sure their only answer is divorce if there are children involved in the marriage?

I guess there might be some states or counties that REQUIRE counseling before granting a divorce, and suppose in all but some extreme cases (such as those involving abuse/domestic violence) I can't see the harm in a trial separation and counseling prior to the divorce regardless of their being children involved or not.
Counseling might help both sides keep a calmer, cooler demeanor, and allow mediation to be successful, thereby removing the necessity of a messy court battle (especially where children are involved.)
