What type of adhesive should be used for mounting a sink to a granite countertop?

An under mount sink will be mechanically fastened with a rack that mounts to the cabinets or clamps that are epoxied or otherwise attached to the granite. In either case a continuous bead of silicone is placed between the sink and the counter top to keep water out. If it's well placed it should be nearly invisible.
A drop in sink usually sets in a sealant of some sort and clamps in place with a built in system that attaches under the counter top. Silicone can be used here, also plumbers putty and a few other choices. The key is to keep water out. This also should be nearly invisible when well done.
