Humptulips is a census designated place in Grays Harbor County, Washington. It has a population of 216, according to the 2000 consensus. The name Humptulips comes from a local Indian word meaning "hard to pole", which refers to the local Natives trying to pole their canoes through the Humptulips River. Humptulips gets its claim to fame from the Tom Robbins novel "Another Roadside Attraction" where the town is referenced as being the operational base for a group of assassin monks. Local businesses include Rainforest Vacation Rentals and Grays Harbor Dance.
