About Ritzville

Ritzville, Washington is located in Adams County in Eastern Washington. The population, as of the 2000 consensus, was 1,726. The town is named after Phillip Ritz who settled there in 1882. The town was known for the North Pacific Railway, built by William McKay, that runs right through the town. McKay also built the first house in the town, which was used as a makeshift hotel for the train workers. The railway brought on all kinds of settlers to the area, creating a large population jump quickly. Ritzville has four places on the historic point of interest list, these being The Ritzville Carnegie Library, Ritzville Library, The Burroughs House and The Greene House. Local businesses in the area include Ritzville Pastime and Designer Carpets & Interior.
