Could we have a forum 4 identity theft educators/agents

Could we have a forum 4 identity theft educators/agents ?

I help educate families, and employers about how to reduce the risk of identity theft.

I'm a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (C.I.T.R.M.S.)

We help business owners to protect their business, and their clients and employees.

We help businesses become compliant with federal laws such as FACTA, GLB, and/or HIPAA.

I have a blog where I listed "21 Tips To Reduce Your Risk Of Identity Theft."

We help educate families and businesses about what coverages are out there and what the pro's and con's are for them so they do NOT get lulled into a false sense of security by misleading advertising.

Best wishes,

Joe

Identity Theft

I definitely am for this topic. As a certified notary signing agent, I witness several types of fraud in the mortgage industry. It's quite difficult when you're acting as an impartial and not allowed to inform the client. This type of forum is desperately needed for all. I will continue to post articles on my website to aid in getting the word out.

Thanks. Notaries can be used by ID Thieves via log book

Thanks by your comments. I have several friends who are notaries.

One sent me an article that I had on another computer about how ID thieves can use a notary's log book to steal a large number of identities.

The log book may have the person's Social Security Number, Driver's license, and worst of all their signature !!!

If a log book is lost of stolen, then it can be a nightmare for the notary.

How can the notary contact all those who are in danger unless the notary has a duplicate book, and it has addresses and phone numbers. I don't know of any notaries who have these precautions.

To lower their liability, some notaries are reportedly just noting what document they used to verify the signer's identity, but NO NUMBERS. If the signature id challenged or their insurance company wants proof by numbers, then how can they prove that they saw that person's driver's license or passport without numbers?

If they are liable for causing a loss, will the notary's insurance cover their mailing costs of the notifying letters and supplies, and the time to mail them? Will it cover the financial losses to their clients under FACTA, GLB, or HIPAA?

I hope I can locate that article, or you might have it. I think it was from a national notary association.

A CNN PRESENTS: How to Rob A Bank, documentary mentioned how in TEXAS a loophole in the law allowed ANYONE to have a notary stamp made, and it to say ANYTHING they wanted on it. You'd be surprised to see what they had made on the stamp to prove their point, the EASY WAY.

Thanks again for your comments. I'll look forward to sharing information with you.

Best wishes,

Re: Could we have a forum 4 identity theft educators/ag

I'm all for it.  My business handles id theft cases as well as credit repair and debt negotiation.  Perhaps a listing that encompasses all of the above...
