Referral Ideas and local Networking Party ideas.

I have seen some good ideas from other organizations. I want to see what you all are doing to track referrals, create referals, ask for referrals, etc. Also have any of you hosted a networking party? I will be hosting some soon where I am at in in a small town, but want to learn from some of you before doing so. I am even open to feedback or ideas that you think would be good but you haven't yet tried yet.

 Blessings,

Re: Referral Ideas and local Networking Party ideas.

In our community we have several network business mixers and clubs that help with referrals. For example BNI is a business networking referral group, and within other business associations there are free business mixers to attend. Have you looked online for say a local Chamber of Commerce calendar to see the events they have, some might be for all businesses?  Good luck in your endeavors, I know our company loves to send and recieve referrals!

Re: Referral Ideas and local Networking Party ideas.

Hi, Aaron!  I have attended many of the networking events in 2 counties. The ones that I frequent are the Chambers of Commerce that I belong to(2 of them in our area). I also joined 3 of the committees at one and one at the other. These committees meet once a month at the chamber and give an opportunity to network before and after. Check out www.catchyouthere.com which is a website listing our local networking events to give you an idea for your area.  BNI is rather strict and costly but gets you in front of the same large group of people every week which helps to build relationships which eventually leads to referrals.  Most of the chambers also hold events that non members can go to for a nominal cost over the members costs.  Joining local charities to donate some time will also help you to network with the same group of people as well as with a local church of any denomination.  Do a google search under networking events for your local area. Your local Rotary club is a great idea as well.  Any of these will lead to more networking opportunities. Since there are a lot of opportunities here, I have not felt the need to host my own.  Check out Itsallaboutnetworking.com to see how they send out monthly invites. They allow one person from each industry to join. Good luck!

Re: Referral Ideas and local Networking Party ideas.

I am not sure what type of referrals you are looking for but there are a ton of ways to go out and get them. Being a Mortgage Professional my entire business model is dependent upon referrals however I am not sure that the same rules apply with regard to how you can earn referrals in your business. There are basic things that you can do that apply to all businesses across the board. I personally have not been involved in any networking parties though I have sat in as a "substitute" in a couple of BNI meetings. One of the most effective ways of developing referral parternships in my business is by providing value that your prospect otherwise would not benefit from. For instance I help to advertise real estate listings for my Realtor® partners across New York State. I get each Realtor® whom I work with get a couple houses sold per year that they may otherwise not have closed in the same time-frame. It is also very important to treat your clients like they are worth their weight in Diamonds! Treat your clients right, bring value to the relatinoships that you engage in, be proactive, and you will earn plenty of referral business.

Sincerely,
