Gender AppealYour product appealing more to women gives you a great reason to advertise to men does it not? After all...men commonly are frustrated at knowing what they can buy that will be appreciated by the woman in their life. With Mother's Day coming up it is a timely reminder that not just the recipients in gender specific gifts can benefit by learning about your services. I would think parents of both genders would be equally delighted at a gift that packages their life memories. LindyPosted by Lindy Asimus on Fri May 11, 2007 05:31:31 PM |

Lindy, You are right! What I meant is woman customers are usually the first to approach. But I have had men customers who LOVE the business too! In fact some men can be the first to cry tears of joy. It was funny, last summer I was showing a video at this 50th anniversary and though the wife was touched, it was the husband who was bawling his eyes out. Both genders love these video's. But women seem to be more interested in pursuing having it done. However any men out there reading this, it does make a wonderful gift for your wife, girlfriend or mother. Also Daughters, as you will see on my blog, this business was started with a gift of a video from my sister and I to my dad. So Men like them as gifts too.Posted by Cathie Dodd on Fri May 11, 2007 07:31:10 PM |

Check This Out... And imagine your own...Here is a link to a video that is a good example of how video montage would be helpful in a business setting too. Cathie would be able to help you craft your own message to create something like this, for either personal or business. (If you need help with great quotations to fit, drop me a line and I'll find some for you). Think about what message you'd like to associate with your business, or promotion... Thanks Lindy for the Promotion!I watched this and then counted the pictures and the titles. 11 pictures and 12 titles. If we switched out titles for pictures this would work under my special I have offered to Merchantcircle customers. Check out my new blog to see what I am talking about. Thanks again Linday. I enjoyed the video as well. I heard the story before, but it was great with the pictures. Cathie Tears of Joy VideoPosted by Cathie Dodd on Fri May 18, 2007 06:21:38 AM |

Video for the businesses selling CosmeticsI was just thinking a great video montage for cosmetics would be different pictures of women trying on the products, as well as a few of the products featured. Maybe some before and after makeover pictures to show how the products improve your looks. This is a sure selling factor. What woman doesn't want to improve her looks?Posted by Cathie Dodd on Fri May 18, 2007 06:49:49 AM |

The Power of Women!I also agree. That is what SuperMomz (www.supermomz.com) is all about - providing items that help women (moms) with their daily challenges. Lets all help each other out and link to each other. Perhaps we could create an excel list or database or some other way to keep track of the great women owned businesses that we need to link to. Any idea/suggestions?Posted by Julie Zarchi on Mon May 28, 2007 11:49:53 PM |

Sex can be tasteful!I am so glad to have found this networking site! I am still trying to learn to navigate and find the time to keep up with my listing and today I found this forum. With this being the new millenium and a more straight forward society women are able to open up more about the fact that sex is a great thing! With the help of the media my business is becoming more and more female supported. More women have begun shopping for their love lives than ever before and with our new "members only policy" they will be able to be even more discreet with one on one personalization towards enhancing your lovelife or be a little more daring with a group of friends! Sexual intimacy>to be in control of one's esctasy or when two become one!Posted by Janet Pagano on Fri Jun 15, 2007 08:07:58 AM |

Cathie - Networking with Women In BusinessHi Cathie. This thread has grown some but I wonder if you have some ideas on specifically how you may network with the other female business owners who link with you, to get more "bang for your (collective) buck" than just the initial linking. Connecting is a good start, and there could be some very valuable ways that the network could enhance all the businesses concerned. Any ideas, ladies (and men!)?Posted by Lindy Asimus on Sat Jun 23, 2007 08:16:53 PM |

I HAVE been thinking about thisI am working on starting a newsletter. I was thinking of having a few businesses at a time, write a short discription of their business. Since my videos cover a number of different type of subjects, when I am featuring a certain type of video, I would like to put the business in that relate with that type of video. For instance, Pet videos I would put businesses that deal with pet supplies or wedding videos, businesses that deal with weddings, or photography, or cosmetics. Also I was thinking of contacting all the businesses I am linked with and see if they are interested in exchanging business cards, so we can refer people to them in the real world (so to speak), not just cyberspace. I am working right now at trying to create a database with those I am networked with. I am trying to separate these businesses in to catagories. I should of done this a when I started, because I counted and now I have over a 100 linked to me. But since my business can be done nation wide, I don't mind linking with businesses that are across the country from me. I still use discreation in accepting businesses where I think we can both help each other out. So I don't accept everyone. But I have enjoyed networking with all these people and hopefully we can both help each other out.Posted by Cathie Dodd on Tue Jun 26, 2007 07:28:35 AM |

Like To Be A Guinea Pig?Hi Cathie. That's great that you are thinking "database". It is such an important element in a business, and yet some business owners look at that as something optional. It isn't. Perhaps rather than just the types of businesses, you could identify the network members who are wanting to actively network together with you, and set up a pilot program to work through some joint marketing strategies, and map how that works for you all, and assess it as you go along. You could look at it as either individual projects, or for a time period, say 6 months... and measure the results that you all get. I'm expecting that some of these will be less tangible than others and that there will be a fantastic benefit in both business terms, but overall wellbeing too. Finding the right people who are prepared to put their effort into making the program a success is critical. There are lots who "say" they want to network far fewer who actually want to make the effort that it entails. If I can help, let me know.Posted by Lindy Asimus on Tue Jun 26, 2007 06:42:03 PM |

Creating A Women's Network On Merchant Circle.Okay so this thread has been going for quite a while now. Is there any progress? Have you contacted the other members who have contributed to this thread? Have you learned a bit about them and what they offer and how you could each help to promote one another? If it hasn't happened yet, what do you think is the reason, and how might this be improved? Do you need a structure that you can use to get started? Please post your results, or news on this, as that way we can see if there is a way to improve those results even more, and inspire those who have not yet actively become involved, to join in the fun. Results are still in the worksLindy, I have been working with this, but results are still on the wait to see as far as customers. I do see the amount of people coming to my site and MC Listing increasing and I have had a couple of calls and emails from MC listing, some with viewers and some with those I am linked with. As far as working with those I am linked with, everyone I accept, I take time to view their site, I add them to my data base under their business catagory and when someone I know ask about that type of business, I recommend them. I have asked those I am linked with to particapate in a coupon exchange and in contributing to my newsletter, which will both start going out next month. So far I have 10 people for the coupon exchange. If you are reading this and are interested, go to my newsletter on my listing and read all about it. I have over 300 people on my newsletter list right now, and adding, so we will see how that pans out as far as pomoting women owned businesses. Of course it doesn't have to be a woman owned business to network with me. But I have had many women respond to my request. Thanks everyone for your support.Posted by Cathie Dodd on Tue Jul 24, 2007 10:23:12 AM |

Actively Networking On Merchant Circle - And OfflineHi Cathie. I'm impressed with the effort that you are making to activate your network here on Merchant Circle. I am looking forward to seeing the results that your network can generate. A little trial and error maybe along the way, but if you keep at it, you'll find your natural "partners" for shared events, and your network will grow and prosper accordingly. I wonder if "packaging" is the key to making it easier for customers to buy direct from Merchants advertising on Merchant Circle. Keep your eyes open for good looking packages and offers that you see and if you see something you like, contact the merchant and get some feedback first hand. And if anyone has had some success with a particular type of packaging an offer on a coupon or other means, let us know. We'd love to share in your success, and maybe try a few of those ideas too. Good luck to all. LindyPosted by Lindy Asimus on Wed Jul 25, 2007 08:40:42 AM |

Business that appeals more to womenI have an art and frame business in Lexington, SC and by far women purchase the art, framing and handmade gifts like pottery that I carry more often than men. I do frame things for men but my favorite comment that I get from some men when I ask for the deposit is "I left my wallet in my car!" If you would like to link up, please let me know. Women and Home TechnologyHome Techonology is not just about electronics and not just for men. I work with the women in the family more than the men since I Design the electronics into the home. And, of course, women design their homes. Everthing is hidden - but still there for their husbands, kids or themselves, when they want it. As a woman brought up and having an electronic business in Silicon Valley during the Home electronics boom, I had the opportunity to live with innovative home electronics. I now have a very good time showing women how they can easily understand today's home technology and how it can save them from tedious daily tasks. I love it when they go home with more knowledge and understanding of what's out there then their kids. I love making them the 'wow' mom to their family. I think women in business need to talk more - women really have more control than what meets the eye.Posted by chris burnside on Sat Feb 23, 2008 04:21:52 PM |

This could be great for every woman in businessWhy I think my business appeals to more women than men? I think lots of women/mothers would like to be able to see their kids grow up every single minute of the day. With the business I'm in this is possible. It's got many great benefits for lots of people. The best thing I think is that as a person working for this company your whole family will get health benefits for one small fee a month. This covers up to 20 people in one household and they don't have to be related. To me this is great for every mother wanting to stay home with their kids and have them token care of when they get sick in the bargain.
I wanted to share this to let you know that I have started a new
business working from home. I am really excited about the company we
are working with, its called AmeriplanUSA. And the best part is it's
Legitimate. To many scams out there I fell for previously to finding
this. I can't say enough how happy I am, it changed my life most
definitly. Posted by Mieke van Son on Fri Mar 7, 2008 11:20:26 AM |
