13 Super Millers

Hey Folks: I live in Manhattan during the year and summer at Mohegan Lake. Without fail if I am fortunate to make a kiddush on Shabbat either in the city,or in the country, it always include matjes herring for Miller's Super 13. That's right - I travel to Boro Par...k - to Miller's Super 13 for the best matjes herring iI ever tasted. I'm not crazy, because everyone who has been to one of my kiddushim has come away a fan. So much so that each year when we open the shul at Mohegan Lake, at least two people( if not more) approach me to ask. "What Shabbat are you giving kiddush? I look forward to having some of the herring you always bring". Nothing more need be said other than: We like the imported variety better than the domestic, but both are good. Make sure you get plenty of fresh onions in a separate container. The herring will keep better and longer if it is not mixed with the onions ---until you serve it. Read More
