About CNA Classes

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) assist registered nurses (RN) with taking care of patients at hospitasl, assisted living facilities, at a patient's home and in some doctor's offices. You need to complete a training program and take an exam before you can officially work as a CNA.

Online CNA Classes

An online training program can work for you, if you're interested in taking courses toward obtaining a CNA license and you work full-time. With online programs, you complete the courses that you normally would in a classroom setting. Anything that requires a lab is done at a facility where you gain hands on experience. Some of the facilities pay you while you finish your training. Check the requirements for these programs because some of the companies may require you to work for a certain amount of time to make up for the training they provided you with.

Local CNA Classes

Most local colleges, community colleges and technical schools offer the CNA training class for those interested in completing most of the program at the school. Each school may offer a different type of training program. For example, one school might have both the classroom coursework and your labs on site. Another may have you split the time between on campus classes and at a care facility such as a hospital or nursing home.

CNA Course Curriculum

Classes that you often see as part of a CNA program include anatomy and physiology, learning how the body moves and operates, how to control and infection, hygiene, nutrition and communication skills. Certified nursing assistant labs teach you how to read patient vital signs and how to care for various patient needs.
