About Contracts for Pet Sitting Services

Pet sitting services provide care for people’s pets when they are away.  A contract or agreement is a protection for the pet sitter, client and pets. A service contract or legal agreements are two types of contracts that may be drawn up. Terms and conditions may vary according to the owner of the pet and the pet sitter.

Contact Information

A service contract involves contact, pet and home information along with instructions for the service provider. This includes name, address and city. All phone numbers are listed such as home, cell and business. The number and name of the vet should also be listed. It’s important that phone numbers of neighbors or anyone that lives close by the client are added to the contract in case the pet sitter has an emergency and can’t make it on time. This only pertains to pet sitters that work in the client’s home instead of their own.

Care Information

Pet care information should include the pet’s name, age, gender, species and color. Personality traits and temperament of the pet should also be listed. Detailed medical instructions and up-to-date records of shots are especially important if the pet has a health condition. Another thing that may be added to a pet-sitting contract is feeding instructions such as the amount of food and treats to give. Additional details may include where pooper scooper is kept and where waste should be disposed.

Agreement

The owner and pet sitter need to agree on the statements in the contract and acknowledge this with the date and their signature. Any change in the contract should be made in writing and signed by both parties. The pet sitter should agree in writing that everything will be kept confidential and safe including personal information, keys, remote control entry devices and access codes. A legal agreement may also be part of a petting sitting services contract for protection of liability claims. The owner should be liable for all medical expenses and damages including damage a pet may cause to the property or injury to the sitter.
