About Country Living Interior Decorating

Country living interior decorating is a great way to add a country feel to your home.  This is actually a popular and fun type of design.  It will make your home feel much more cozy and it doesn't take a lot of work to do so.  Of course, if you enjoy antique hunting, this is the perfect interior design style for you too.

  • Country living interior design will make your home feel warm and nurturing.  It contains a lot of great vintage items along side of roosters, gingham, sunflowers and birdhouses.  This is a fun style to recreate because it allows you to visit old country stores and antique shops in search of old butter dishes, mason jars, copper pots, pewter candlesticks and colorful tin boxes to display.  You may even want to change out your kitchen's hardware with vintage Bakelite and install a deep farmhouse sink.  Vintage linens, fresh flowers and candles can also be used.

  • This design comes from a time in the past whenever slow, rural living was common.  Country living interior design is meant to showcase this history and tradition.  For this reason, antiques and family heirlooms are oftentimes used.

  • There are different types of country decorating based upon the various countries around the world.  If you have a more modern style, you can also partake of this style by utilizing vintage architectural pieces like Mission furniture.  There is also eclectic country design that utilizes vintage pieces from all over the world.  Herein you can show off your appreciation for the world's culture.

  • This style is family friendly and down to earth.  Floors are oftentimes covered in planks that are made from light colored wood, oak or walnut.  Rugs are utilized on these floors to provide comfort and soften the floor's harshness.  Lighting ranges from iron chandeliers to shabby chic crystal lamps.

  • Windows are an important part of this style.  If the window gets a lot of sun or is open to the pubic, you will need to use blinds and curtains.  Otherwise, a valance or scarf makes a great final dressing.  Of course, you will want to use vintage fabrics or gingham.
