About Daycare Preschool Teacher Certifications
Daycare and Pre-school teachers are required to have special certifications. There certifications depend upon how many hours they expect to be in a classroom. One person is considered the lead teacher while there is an assistant that may not have enough educational hours put forth into teaching young children.
Daycare Worker’s Certification
Daycare workers receive their certification by attending a community college or four-year university for their credit hours. Individuals who enrolled in the program are expected to have at least a GED or high school diploma. Students can expect to be in class for at least 1 year to complete the program. Those interested in working as a daycare worker will have to take classes such as early growth and development, child safety, food and nutrition and discipline strategy classes.
After completion of the program the student will receive their Certified Childcare Professional credentials (CCP). Individuals may also apply for their credentials from the National Child Care Association. There are specific requirements to receive these credentials. The certificate and credentials are recognized by most daycare facilities and shows that the person is qualified to work with young children.
Pre-School Certification
Most individuals looking to work in a pre-school setting is required to have their early childhood credentials. This requires individuals to enroll in community college classes or university classes. Most individuals pursing their credentials have the option of receiving their Early Child Credentials I&II. Having your Early Childhood Credentials II is similar to similar to having your associate degree, but you may be lacking a few business classes. Those who go on to receive their full associates degree may consider opening their own daycare or pre-school.
