About Dog Boarding Services
Dog boarders take care of pet owners' animals while they are out of town or working. While the animals are at the boarding service, attendants feed them, give them water, clean their cages and exercise them. Some boarders also offer bathing and grooming services.
Dog owners can choose between different types of boarding facilities. The dog hotel is the top-of-the-line facility for any dog. But just because a place says it's a hotel, doesn’t make it one. Dog hotels have large rooms with plenty of light. Typically, dog hotels have fewer dogs staying there compared to other boarding facilities. A dog hotel is generally a calmer and quieter option for your pet.
A dog kennel is another option. Your dog stays in a pen that usually has walls on three sides and mesh bars with a door on the fourth side. This set-up is usually fine for healthy and confident dogs. Anxious, nervous dogs may not do as well in a kennel. In general, unless a large facility has a big staff, the fewer kennels at the facility, the better, so that your dog will get more attention.
Avoid places that put your dog in a small, dark cage with no exercise run. If your dog gets no view and can only hear other barking dogs, your dog is likely to become stressed and frustrated. Your dog could also become ill in that type of environment. Dogs need to get out and spend time playing and sniffing outdoors.
