About Liquid Vitamins
Many people believe that liquid vitamins absorb better than vitamin tablets. This is true to a certain extent. Liquid vitamins work really well for people whose gastrointestinal system does not break down items effectively. Liquid vitamins are also convenient because you do not have to take water with them.
About Liquid Vitamins
- Liquid vitamins are easier to take, especially for people who have trouble swallowing pills.
- One drawback of some liquid vitamins is that they are subject to stomach acids and they may be destroyed before reaching the upper intestines, which is where they are absorbed greatly. B12 and folic acid are the best vitamins to take in liquid form as they are not destroyed by the stomach acid easily.
- Liquid vitamins generally cost more than other types of vitamins. This is because they have a higher absorption rate, which is approximately 85 to 95 percent.
- Sugar is often added to make it taste better. Vitamins with sugar may not be the best choice for diabetic patients. Mixing it with juice may be a better choice for children.
- Chemotherapy diminishes gastric functions; so liquid vitamins are a good way for chemotherapy or radiotherapy patients to obtain adequate nutrition.
- Liquid vitamins must be refrigerated after they are opened.
