About Mall of America's Amusement Park

Being the largest mall in the United States, the Mall of America has many attractions beyond just shops. The Mall of America Amusement Park provides fun guests of all ages, after they are finished shopping at the mall's over 400 retail stores and boutiques.

About the Park

The amusement park has been a part of the Mall of America ever since it opened in 1992. It was built by the Knott's company (of Knott's Berry Farm), and was intended as a Peanuts-themed park (paying tribute to Twin Cities resident Charles Schulz). Nickelodeon bought the park in 2008, and added many of their own character's to the park and changing its name to Nickelodeon Universe.

Attractions

There are three levels of rides at Nickelodeon Universe. There are thrill rides, including four small roller coasters. Many of the rides are flat, due to the space restrictions of being in a mall. For families, there is a haunted house, carousel and Ferris Wheel featuring Dora the Explorer. Even preschoolers can enjoy the junior rides, which features characters from Blue's Clues and the Backyardigans.

About the Mall

The Mall of America is located in Bloomington, Minnesota, a suburb of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul. The mall itself is over 96.4 acres and contains more than 400 stores. It even has a small school for high school students, as well as a wedding chapel. More than 35 million people visit the mall each year.
