About Medical Clinic Grants
In recent surveys, it was reported that over thirteen million children have no medical insurance while another fifteen million have inadequate medical insurance to help them if they need it. Because so many people are without medical insurance, it's estimated that easily treatable illnesses will become serious problems because they have been left untreated. To help combat this, medical clinics can apply for grants to help some of the millions that are not insured.
- Department of Health and Human Services: The Department of Health and Human Services offers grants to medical clinics through a service area competitions grant. The purpose of the grant is to help those with no or inadequate medical insurance receive treatment even when they cannot afford to pay. The grant is given to clinics that primarily help those in need such as migrant workers, homeless people, and even those that are imprisoned.
- Blue Cross Blue Shield: the Blue Cross Blue Shield offers annual grants to medical clinics that run a free program to help those that are underinsured or not insured at all. Noncompetitive grants can be given in amounts up to $15,000 to help with expanded hours, paying for medications, and operation costs. In order to qualify for this grant, a medical clinic must be nonprofit and run on a volunteer basis. The clinic must also service low-income areas with medical, dental, psychiatric or vision treatments.
- Grantmakers in Health: Grantmakers in Health offers grants to charitable medical clinics throughout the United States to clinics that service low-income families. Often times these grants are minimal and do not have adequate funds to support a large clinic. Grantmakers in Health can also give referrals to other organizations and charities that can offer grants and assistance to medical clinics that need it.
