About Natural Healing Remedies for Acne
For those who suffer from acne and are looking to avoid harsh chemicals and expensive products, there are many natural healing remedies available to treat acne. Many acne sufferers may be able to find relief using products that they already have on hand.
Lifestyle Changes
Healing acne begins inside the body. To help heal acne, it is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and flush any toxins out of your body. It is also important to make sure your body is getting all of the proper vitamins and minerals it needs, which can be achieved by eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Getting enough sleep at night, cleansing your face daily with a mild soap and controlling stress levels are also important tools in fighting acne.
Essential Oils
There are a few essential oils that are known to fight acne. Tea tree oil is an essential oil that contains powerful antibacterial and antiseptic properties, and it is known for its ability to get rid of acne. Lavender essential oil contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and can be used to calm red, inflamed skin that is caused by acne. To use tea tree oil, dilute tea tree oil with water and use a cotton ball to apply the tea tree oil to your face after washing it. To use lavender oil, you may wish to apply a drop directly to the trouble spots, or place a few drops in a bottle of witch hazel, which also has antiseptic properties and is useful in treating acne.
Citrus
Citrus fruits are excellent for exfoliating and removing the dead skin cells that can contribute to clogged pores and acne. For an easy way to treat acne, apply the juice of a lemon or other citrus fruit to your face with a cotton ball, and leave it on for approximately 10 minutes before washing it off with cool water. Dilute the lemon juice with water if you feel straight lemon juice is too strong or causes any burning.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar contains alpha-hydroxy acids, which can help treat acne. You can gain the benefits of apple cider vinegar by consuming 1 tablespoon each day, or by applying it to your face. To apply it to your face, dilute the apple cider vinegar with water, and use a cotton ball to apply it to your face.
