Artists have the unique ability to reach people of different age groups, backgrounds, race, belief systems, and income levels with their message. Bold changes in entertainment or social messages often put new artists into the local, national, and global spotlight.

Most new artists desire some type of affirmation of their work. This could be through profits or from attracting a larger audience. Each mention of an artist in the local media, on blogs, or on shared video communities often brings each artist closer to being recognized professionally

New artists who win Grammy awards often have at least one hit that is in the top one hundred on the bill board chart. These songs may receive a lot of radio airtime or be a song that is powerful enough to cross over genres. For example a popular love song may have equal airtime on country stations, R and B stations, and an easy listening soft rock station.

Independent Artist Recognition Awards

Many people only think of the awards on television given out as Grammys. There are number of independent foundations, companies, and clubs that give out awards. New artists often have exposure for these awards through contests, submitting a unique song, or by creating a song for a specific cause.

Many independent artists are not restricted by what they can and cannot say. Some subjects are not in the mainstream, due to creative hindrances encountered when working for record companies. They may already have a set sound they are going to create while the artist is under contract.
