About Printers Compatible to the Dell Photo Printer 720
Dell is well known for its products, including computers, printers and other devices. Among its most well-known products is the Photo Printer 720, which produces high quality prints. However, due to its high operating costs, other computers have come to the market as competition.
Photo Printer 720 History
The Photo Printer 720 was released in 2005, and a frequent addition to printer/computer bundles, added at no additional cost. It was promoted as a photo quality printer capable of producing high quality print jobs.
Problem with the 720:
While it did produce high quality prints, the cost of operating the system was significantly higher than other photo printers due to the high cost of ink. It had an estimated annual cost of $700 to run, which is as much as five to six times its competitors.
Compatible printers on the market:
Dell used to have a contract with Lexmark to produce printers. As a result, Dell has a printer that is virtually the same printer as the Dell 720. The Lexmark Z605 is the computer directly compatible, in terms of what it can do and the quality of its prints. There are a number of other photo quality printers available today that can do the same thing that the Dell 720 can do, for significantly less money, including the Hewlett Packard OfficeJet Pro K5400. It is not compatible, but a similar printer. While these computers perform the same functions, they do require different print cartridges.
